Mapitlula has been in the music industry for almost three decades. She says she is still going strong and will never forget Zimbabwe as it’s now her second home.
“That country carries unforgettable memories and I still enjoy when I’m in front of them. To tell the truth I never knew that I would be still in the industry after all this time. My family and supporters have always been there for me. I remember when Teanat died it was as if the world has turned against me but my supporters gave me unconditional love.”
After a two year break in 1996 she came back strong in 1999 where she released Ariya-riya and Thembi. Here first solo album was released in 1989 titled I don’t need your billionaire – it sold gold.
In 2006 her album Papa Mfana was nominated at the MLFM music awards. She won MLFM Xitsonga best female artist award in 2006, 2007, 2008 and received an appreciation award from Sekho FM in 2013.
