The comment was made at a one day ICT workshop organised by local IT experts. James said the local authority had embraced technology by establishing a website where residents could access information about the operations and development happening in the city.
James said the advent of ICT had enabled more people to access information at a low cost.
“We have established a website which is running and this will provide a platform for residents to interact and communicate effectively with their local authority,” said James.
According to statistics released by Frost and Sullivan Mobile communication market, the ICT sector has contributed 15,2 percent to the country’s Gross Domestic Product in 2010.
