Upcoming Book Café pop-up Events

As Book Café continues to look for a new home we will be operating various ad hoc events around Harare and we hope that you will join us on some or all of these adventures. Here are our two upcoming events next on our calendar:

unnamedSAT 12 DEC8pm-Late. TRANSIT CREW. Still Zimbabwe’s top reggae band: 25 years and still roots rocking! TRANSIT CREW will headline our 12 December show featuring the smooth vocal talents of MANNEX MOTSI and performing a mixture of original Zimbabwean reggae and classic reggae covers. Opening the night ahead of the main attraction will be DJ IRIE LION playing a specially curated selection of strictly Marley family hits including tracks from Damian Marley, Steven Marley, Ziggy Marley, Kymani Marley and of course the one and only Bob Marley. Completing our night will be a closing set from DJ DAWEE from the Berlin based SWS (Sounds With Soul) crew. Dawee has toured Europe extensively and locally has graced both Lake of Stars festival in Malawi and our own Zim Shoko festival with his blend of reggae dancehall and tropical Caribbean beats.
This show will take place on the roof of New Ambassador Hotel, 88 Kwame Nkrumah Ave, Harare.
entry $5
SAT 19 DEC6pm-Late. X-MAS SPECTACULAR. We knew we had to put something a little extra special together for Christmas and we think we’ve managed to do exactly that! Heading our X-MAS Spectacular will be the mighty MOKOOMBA – Zimbabwe’s current top live band in our humble opinion – with their uniquely Tonga influenced afro-beat. Also performing on the night will be mbira-punk rockers CHIKWATA.263 looking to consolidate their reputation as the craziest live act in town and the funky jazz sounds of MUDZI (meaning: the root) lead by virtuoso guitarist Humpfrey Domboka. It wouldn’t be an X-MAS SPECTACULAR without one of those ‘once in a lifetime’ experiences, and for this show we’re bringing you the Cape Town based DJ + Drummer Duo who call themselves SCREAMING EAGLE BUS COMPANY who are passing through on their way to Kilifi NYE festival in Kenya.
This show will take place on the roof of New Ambassador Hotel, 88 Kwame Nkrumah Ave, Harare.
entry $5
