The band, which dominated the local musical charts shortly after independence, had faded into oblivion following the death of band leader John Chibadura in 1999.

After lying low for more than two decades, the musical outfit has resurrected itself following a donation of kit worth more than $5,000 by the band manager, Robert Kunaka.

The talent that characterised the original Tembo Brothers has been retained in the band through Pfumayi Tapera on lead guitar and Douglas Katsvairo on vocals.

Katsvairo and Kunaka compose the songs, and there are plans to add a male dance group.
