Amidu saga drags on

Attacking midfielder, Brett Amidu, will have to wait longer before he realises his dream of playing in the South African Premiership, even if Amazulu and the Aces Youth Soccer Academy (AYSA) resolve the wrangle over his transfer.

This follows the SA club’s failure to register him with the Premier Soccer League (PSL). The player’s name does not feature on list of squads the PSL released to the media recently following the lapse of the transfer window in August.

Amazulu registered 26 players that include Amidu’s countrymen, Tapuwa Kapini and Carlington Nyadombo.

Last week, officials from the Durban-based Absa Premiership campaigners revealed there was still a dispute over the signing of Amidu. It emerged the Harare-based academy was still waiting for the player’s transfer fee from AmaZulu before the player could complete his move to the PSL.

Aces founder and director, Nigel Munyati, confirmed the academy had not reached a breakthrough with Amazulu.

Should the impasse be resolved, Amidu can only be registered with the PSL in January. He signed a two-year contract with Amazulu and was unveiled ahead of the current season.
