I am not bitter: Karuru

Belgian-based Zimbabwe Warriors midfielder, Ovidy Karuru, says he is not bitter at being left out of national team assignments in recent games. Karuru, who missed out of the Warriors’ 3-1 win over Angola at the Nationals Sports Stadium, has also been left out of the return crunch encounter against the Palancas Negras this weekend.

Karuru’s omission from the side comes after he was singled out for blame by Coach Rahman Gumbo, after missing a sitter when the Warriors drew 0-0 away to Mozambique in a World Cup qualifier two months ago. He was also accused of having taken bribes from fired former Zifa Chief Executive Officer, Henrietta Rushwaya, alongside German-based striker Knowledge Musona, after Zimbabwe lost 0-1 at home to Guinea in another 2014 World Cup qualifier.

“I don’t have any hard feelings and I know that all I have to do is keep working hard. I am sure that I will be called in to play for the national team in the future,” he told The Zimbabwean.

He also expressed hope that he would be part of the Warriors contingent that he confidently believes will travel to South Africa for next year’s Afcon finals.
