Xenophobia play comes to town

A joint team of Zimbabweans and South Africans are set to perform a Xenophobia play in Harare next month.

Directed and produced by Spiwe Sibiya, a renowned artist and former Zimbabwean model, the play is set to urge unity amongst Africans. The play focuses on everyday life with xenophobia being the centre stage of life. It discusses problems and how they must be solved amicably.

"We are confident that we will attract new audiences from all over Zimbabwe who are keen to see xenophobia brought to life on stage, which in essence will be an advantage to both the Zimbabwean community and Africa and globe as well. We are convinced that our play will help set up a better society without hate amongst community," said Sibiya.

"We will also conduct workshops during our stay in the country, and these workshops will benefit the country as it urges us closer to democracy. Residents must help us achieve our goal in uniting the country through arts and entertainment."

Currently, Sibiya works with African artists gurus like Sello Zikalala, George Lamola, Ramolao Makhene, Gibson Kente, Sol Chibambu and done a successful show with him featuring Judith Sephuma and the Legendary Lou Mhlanga, and the sensational Zodwa Mabena from Ladies in Jazz.

She is also a Director of SHOWOFFS Consulting and Projects. Through her company she choreographed and put on stage the event Miss Zimbabwe South Africa 2010 the inaugural event. She has also featured in many South African local dramas.
