The arts festival failed to attract high profile musicians as stated on its website.
Little known bands and acts such as Reverb and E Band, Eastern Gospel Stars, Chikukwa Dance Group, Alec Muchayi neNgangu Band, Hungwe Band, Batanai Group, Youth Dance attempted to entertain the crowds.
Notable performances came from Tumbuka Dance group, Juicer Mpostori, Chikwata.263 and showcases by First Floor Gallery Exhibition,
According to sources privy to the proceedings of the once colourful arts showcase, the organisers failed to reach a common ground with their sponsors that prompted the latter to pull out at the 11th hour.
"The directors of the (Chimanimani) arts festival waved a "no international artists" rule which did not go down well with the sponsors," said the source.
Efforts to get an official comment from the assistant director, Hector Mugani, were fruitless as his mobile phone was unreachable.
