Its Super Sunday

... as Mighty Bulls take on DeMbare
joey_antipas1HARARE With the Premier League title race looking firmly set to go right to the wire, log leaders Motor Action take on second placed Dynamos at Rufaro Stadium this afternoon in a potentially nerve-jangling clash that could decide who gets crowned champions this season.

The battle for the domestic crown has been narrowed to a two horse race between the Mighty Bulls and Dynamos. While resurgent Bulawayo giants Highlanders are still in with a mathematical chance after a good run under Mukupali Masuku, who took over from the blundering Egyptian coach Mohammed Fathy, winning seven league games on the trot, it however remains near impossible for Bosso to catch up with Motor Action and Dynamos.

With five games left to play and the Bulawayo giants still trailing the log leaders by 12 points, nothing short of divine intervention could see them overtaking The Mighty Bulls and DeMbare to land the title. Motor Action are enjoying a cool breeze at the summit of the league table following their 1 – 0 win over Black Mambas last Saturday which opened a four-point lead gap over second-placed Dynamos who dropped two precious points after stuttering to a goalless draw against old enemy Caps United in the Harare derby last Sunday.

The Mighty Bulls have collected an incredible 58 points from 25 matches while Dynamos trail behind with 54 points from the same number of games and any slip up by either side today could be catastrophic. Motor Action coach Joey Antipas admitted it was biggest match of the season. He said: This will be a very tough match for both teams. There is going to be tension during the match because both teams will be trying to be as cautious as possible because any team that wins on Sunday will have an advantage going forward.

No one wants to lose the game and for us to lose it will put a major dent on our challenge for the league title. But what I am saying does not mean we are afraid of Dynamos. We respect them, they are an experienced side which has been playing in the African Champions League but I hope they also respect us,” said Antipas. DeMbare will need to put aside their disappointing draws against Eagles and Caps United and be at their best if they are to tame the raging Bulls.

It is a feat that DeMbare assistant coach Simon Chuma told The Zimbabwean on Sunday the Glamour Boys have the stamina to accomplish. This is the game of our lives, said Chuma. Its a matter of sink or swim especially after drawing the previous matches. Motor Action has played so well this season and they are in form but we are a team that is capable of rising to the occasion. We really need all points though it doesnt mean our loss will be the end of our fight. We will fight to the end.

Should Motor Action pass the Dynamos test, they will be faced with other tough assignments as they have champions Gunners on their way and resurgent Highlanders who have not lost a point since Mkhuphali Masuku took over. The log leaders also have Moses Chunga’s Caps United to think about before they can be sure of laying their hands on the coveted trophy.

If they win the league title, it will be their first time since their formation from the ashes of Blackpool in 2000. On the other hand Dynamos whose form has been stuttering recently have an outstanding match against Gunners and also have tricky opponents in relegation threatened Kiglon, FC Victoria, Douglas Warriors and Black Mambas.
